About this product
What is marine collagen?
Marine collagen is collagen drawn from fish rather than cattle. Ours is made in France from the skins and scales of wild-caught cod, hydrolysed into low molecular weight peptides of around 4,000 daltons. It is 93% protein or more and, being fish-derived, suits people who avoid bovine products.
How it is made
Collagen is extracted from cod skins and scales, hydrolysed into short peptides and spray-dried to a fine powder.
What it tastes like
Neutral, with no fishy taste or smell when made to specification. The powder is fine and white and dissolves quickly.
How to use marine collagen
Stir a scoop into water, juice, coffee or a smoothie, hot or cold. It dissolves without residue and does not alter the flavour of the drink.
Quality and sourcing
Not organic. Average molecular weight around 4,000 Da. Tested to specification for microbiology. Contains fish. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Our standards
Every van Mel & Co. product is a single ingredient or a short, declared blend, with nothing added that is not on the label. Each one is supplied against a written specification that sets out its origin, sensory character, microbiological limits and allergen status. Where a product is certified organic, the certifying body is named in the specification. We pack in Stellenbosch and ship across South Africa in 100 g, 1 kg and 10 kg.
