What is barley grass juice powder?
Barley grass is the young shoot of the barley plant, cut before the grain forms. This is a juice powder rather than a whole-leaf powder: the shoots are pressed and the juice is dried, so the fibrous material stays behind. The result is a powder that is smooth in a drink rather than gritty. Ours is grown organically in the USA.
How it is made
Young barley grass is cold-pressed and the juice is dried at low temperature to a powder. The process removes most of the plant fibre, which is why this powder is so much finer and more soluble than a whole-grass powder.
What it tastes like
Fresh, green and mildly sweet, cleaner and lighter than wheatgrass. The colour is a bright green.
How to use barley grass juice powder
Whisk a teaspoon into a glass of cold water or apple juice, where it dissolves readily, or blend it into a smoothie. It is one of the easier greens to drink on its own.
Quality and sourcing
Certified organic by Oregon Tilth (NOP). Pesticide screen: not detected. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
